Soft Claws® are vinyl nail caps that glue on to your dog's nails. They look like your dog's nails, only hollow. You fill them with the adhesive provided and glue them on to your dog's nails. The nail covers effectively blunt your dog's nails so no damage occurs when they scratch. They are completely safe and humane and can be used on dogs of all ages. Dogs tolerate the nail caps extremely well. Soft Claws® are easy to apply at home. Dogs and their owners love them. Everything is included in the kit for easy at home application.

There are 40 nail caps per package. That is enough for 4 front paw applications or 2 front and rear paw applications.

Once the nail caps are applied they remain in place for approximately 4-6 weeks. They will fall off with the natural growth of your dog's nails. We recommend that you check your dog's nails periodically because usually just one or two fall off at a time and these can be easily reapplied.

Each kit contains 40 nail caps and will last approximately 4-6 months per dog.

Note: While the vast majority of dogs acclimate to the nail caps within minutes, some dogs may require an adjustment period. Dog's sometimes groom the nail-caps excessively at first. This may result in one or two falling off. No problem. Just check the nails daily at first, and if one is missing, simply replace it with another from the package. Thus, the first package may not last as long as subsequent packages. Again, most dogs do not even notice they are wearing them after the first 30 minutes.

A good tip is to feed your dog his or her favorite food after applying the Soft Claws®. This serves as a good reward and also diverts their attention away from their new acquisition. Some people find it easier to apply the Soft Claws® when their dogs are sleepy.

If you are using Soft Claws® to prevent your dog from scratching the doors, walls or protect people from scratches incurred from dogs jumping on them, apply the nail caps to the front paws only. For hardwood floors, you may wish to apply the nail caps to all four paws.

Soft Claws® come in the following sizes: X-Small, Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, XX-Large, and Jumbo.

Note: If your dog is overweight, this does not necessarily mean it is a large dog.

Guidelines:

X-Small: Soft Claws® will fit most puppies by the time they reach the age of 16 weeks (4 months). Some puppies can wear them as early as age 12 weeks (3 months). To test, try a nail cap on first without the adhesive. If it looks too big, don't glue it on. The nail cap should fit snugly, like a glove. To accommodate younger puppies, you can trim the base of the Soft Claws® nail cap making it smaller so it will fit your puppy's nail. Puppies and dogs up to about 5 pounds generally fit into the X-Small size.

Small: Approximately 6 months of age. Approximately 5-10 pounds. Some puppies at 5 months may need the Small size if they are growing fast or are large-breed dogs.

Medium: Approximately 10-15 pounds.

Large: Approximately 15-20 pounds.

X-Large: Approximately 20-40 pounds.

XX-Large: Approximately 40-70 pounds.

Jumbo: 70 pounds and up.
